Agenda, proposal, objection, decision — and staying polite throughout.
Two languages, two pictures for the same failing. English beats about the bush — the beater thrashing the undergrowth instead of going after what is in it. Spanish goes off into the branches: irse por las ramas, or andarse por las ramas, leaving the trunk of the matter for the twigs. The rest of the tree is in the language too. El meollo del asunto is the heart of it, and the instruction that stops a rambling colleague is vamos al grano — let us go to the grain, to the seed. So a Spanish meeting asks you to come down from the branches and get to the seed, and both halves of that come off a farm rather than out of a hunt.
