Reading a news item without a dictionary every third word.
El bulo is a false story put about on purpose, and Spanish has had the word since long before anybody said « fake news ». English has to borrow — hoax, canard, fake — and none of them is the everyday word a newsreader would use. Es un bulo states flatly that something going round is invented; desmentir un bulo is what a company does about it. Beside it sits el rumor, which is unverified but not necessarily false, and the two do not swap: a rumour may turn out to be true, a bulo never was.
