Exposure, sharpness, light, working up — three dials and their price.
El objetivo is the lens on the front of the camera and it is also the goal you are working towards, the same word, and only the sentence decides. Spanish then keeps a distinction English does not: la lente is one piece of glass, el objetivo is the whole barrel of them screwed onto the body, so un objetivo de siete lentes is an ordinary thing to write. English calls both « lens » and has to add « element » when it matters. Both words come from the same Latin idea — the thing set in front of you — whether it is made of glass or of intention.
