More about this list

Polish often describes symptoms impersonally, with the person in the dative: Kręci mi się w głowie.“I feel dizzy”Jest mi niedobrze.“I feel sick” An itch takes the accusative: Swędzi mnie ręka. “My arm itches.” Many words for symptoms are plural only: mdłości, zawroty głowy, duszności. And medicine is usually lek, in conversation, on the packet and at the chemist’s alike; lekarstwo is the older, cosier word.
