More about this list

What hurts is the subject in Polish, and you are in the accusative: Boli mnie żołądek “my stomach hurts”, boli mnie kolano. For illnesses you say mam + accusative (mam grypę, mam alergię na orzechy) or jestem + adjective (jestem uczulony na koty). Two words to keep apart: recepta is a prescription, a cooking recipe is przepis; and a referral to a specialist is a skierowanie. “To get better” is a verb of its own: wyzdrowieć.
