Abstract basics

The words for reasons, results, parts, kinds and degrees that every explanation needs.

These are the nouns that hold an explanation together, and most of them are two-kanji compounds. Several work almost as grammar: 場合(ばあい) after a clause turns it into a condition, and 程度(ていど) after a number means "about". Where English reaches for a verb — "it is connected with", "it can be solved" — Japanese often uses one of these nouns with する or がある.
