Social work in Spanish

Intake, care plan, benefit, network — the language between the office, the service and the living room.

La ayuda a domicilio is help given in somebody's own home, and el domicilio is a word Spanish uses far more freely than English uses « domicile ». In English it is legal and rare; in Spanish it is the ordinary formal name for where a person lives, printed on every form. And a domicilio is a whole family of things brought to the door: pizza a domicilio, médico a domicilio, venta a domicilio. English needs « home », « house call » and « door-to-door » to cover the same ground.
