Travelling in Poland in Polish

Mountains, lakes and coast, the big cities, castles, town halls and old towns, spas and open-air museums, and what to eat and bring home.

Practise this list

From these 40 words, as many per round as you like — up to all of them: first what is due today, then new ones. First you choose, then you fill the gap, then you write it yourself. Mistakes come back again shortly.

More about this list

With places the preposition decides: you travel to a town with do (do Krakowa) and are w it (w Krakowie). To the sea or a lake you go nad with the accusative (nad morze), and are nad with the instrumental (nad morzem). To the mountains is w góry, w Tatry, and you are w górach. Some regions take na: na Mazury, na Mazurach. Many names are plural (Tatry, Mazury, Bieszczady), and Zakopane declines like an adjective: w Zakopanem.
