From these 26 words, as many per round as you like — up to all of them: first what is due today, then new ones. First you choose, then you fill the gap, then you write it yourself. Mistakes come back again shortly.

More about this list

Where English adds a little word after the verb — go away, come up, drive round, run off — Polish puts a prefix in front. The prefix gives the direction, the verb the way of moving, and the prefix makes the verb perfective. The imperfective partner comes from the second stem: odejść — odchodzić, zjechać — zjeżdżać, zanieść — zanosić. The main prefixes: od- “away”, pod- “up to”, ob- “round”, z- “down”, za- “to a destination”, prze- “across, through”, u- “off, away”. One exception is wpaść: literally “to fall in”, in daily life “to drop in”.
