Jobs and professions

Many Korean job titles end in a Sino-Korean syllable that says what kind of job it is: 사 for many qualified professions (변호사, 약사), 가 for experts and artists (건축가, 음악가), and 원 for members of staff (연구원, 승무원). Newer jobs are often English loanwords, such as 디자이너 and 프리랜서. When speaking to or about many of these people, Koreans add the honorific 님: 기사님, 교수님.
