Shops and services

This is the language of everything that happens around a purchase rather than the purchase itself: deliveries that miss you, repairs, fees, memberships, queues. Many of the words are compounds you will meet first as written signs — 定休日(ていきゅうび) on a shop door, 年中無休(ねんじゅうむきゅう) on a supermarket, 受付(うけつけ) over a desk — so recognising them by sight matters as much as saying them.
