The internet and social media

Accounts, posts, notifications and the everyday handling of phones and apps.

Most of this vocabulary is katakana taken from English, and much of it shifts on the way in: スタンプ is a messaging sticker, スマホ a smartphone, and a "like" is いいね, which you press rather than give. The kanji words deserve more attention, because they come from settings screens and official notices and are not guessable from English: 個人情報(こじんじょうほう), 通知(つうち), 非公開(ひこうかい).
