The weather

Sun and rain, wind and cloud, fog and dust storms, and the sky above them.

Weather “happens” with होना or arrives with आना: बारिश हो रही है, “it is raining”; तूफ़ान आया, “a storm came”. Wind “moves”, हवा चल रही है, and the sun “comes out”, सूरज निकलता है. Most weather words are feminine: धूप, बारिश, हवा, ठंड.
