Animals and nature
Cows, monkeys and peacocks, birds and insects, trees and flowers, rivers and hills.
Animals have a grammatical gender that is not always the animal’s own: बिल्ली and मक्खी are feminine whatever the cat or fly, हाथी and मच्छर masculine. Many animals you will meet in the street before you meet them in a book — cows lying in the road, monkeys on the roof, peacocks in a garden.
