Clothes
Shirts and saris, shoes and sandals, and putting them on and taking them off.
Western and Indian clothes are worn side by side, and both sets of words are ordinary Hindi: क़मीज़ and टी-शर्ट, कुर्ता and पैंट. Clothes are put on with पहनना, glasses and a watch are often “applied” with लगाना, and everything comes off with उतारना — shoes first of all, at the door of a home or a temple.
