More about this list

At the doctor’s you say what hurts, and Turkish says it with the body part and a possessive ending: dizim ağrıyor“my knee hurts”boynum tutuldu“I have a stiff neck” Two body parts lose a vowel on the way: omuz → omzum, boyun → boynum. Many words in this list come in pairs with a verb: kilo almak and kilo vermek “to put on and lose weight”, hastaneye yatmak and taburcu olmak “to be admitted and discharged”, and hastalık geçirmek for an illness you have been through.
