Um dia no escritório

From nine to six, with a printer that will not cooperate.

The first text in this series that covers a whole working day. It is the best practice for contractions: no escritório, à tarde, das férias, até à paragem — there is one in every other sentence, and none of them can be worked out from English.

A Rita trabalha num escritório pequeno perto do rio. Chega às nove e liga o computador. Na mesa há dois cadernos, uma caneta e uma chávena de café.

De manhã responde a mensagens. Uma cliente pergunta pelo preço; a Rita escreve a resposta e envia o ficheiro. Depois marca uma reunião para quinta-feira.

Ao meio-dia come uma sopa com uma colega. Falam do tempo, do trabalho e das férias de agosto. A colega diz que vai ao Porto de comboio.

À tarde a impressora não funciona. A Rita chama o técnico. Ele diz que é o papel e arruma tudo em cinco minutos.

Às seis a Rita desliga o computador e arruma a mesa. Lá fora ainda está sol. Vai a pé até à paragem e espera o autocarro.
