Numbers up to a thousand in Polish

The tens and hundreds, ordinals from sixth on, one and a half, a dozen and the collective numbers for children and couples.

Practise this list

From these 36 words, as many per round as you like — up to all of them: first what is due today, then new ones. First you choose, then you fill the gap, then you write it yourself. Mistakes come back again shortly.

More about this list

From five on, the noun being counted is in the genitive plural: pięć złotych, sześćset metrów, dziewięćdziesiąt minut. The hundreds show how they are built: dwieście, trzysta and czterysta are older and irregular, from pięćset on you simply add -set. Ordinals decline like adjectives, and that is exactly what clock times and dates need: o szóstej“at six”siódmego maja“on the seventh of May” For children, for couples and for plural-only words Polish uses collective numbers, which English does not have: troje dzieci, czworo drzwi.
