More about this list
Shopping needs the genitive above all: kilo truskawek, puszka groszku, trochę wędliny, garść orzechów. Watch what is singular in Polish and plural in English: groszek“peas”fasola“beans” The other way round, some words are almost always plural where English has a collective word: słodycze“sweets”mrożonki“frozen food”płatki“cereal” A few fruits have an unusual genitive plural: wiśni and pomarańczy end in -i and -y, and winogron has no ending at all.
