More about this list

Many people in Poland live in a blok, a block of flats, or in an old kamienica, a town house with a courtyard. The ground floor is parter and floors are counted from above it, the British way — pierwsze piętro is the first floor, not the ground floor. Furniture is plural: meble, and one piece is mebel, which English cannot say in one word. And as with work, some places take na: na parterze, na strychu, na podwórku.
