A common trap

Wrong Pan usiądź, proszę.

Right Niech pan usiądzie, proszę.

English uses the same imperative for a friend and for a stranger, so English speakers tend to put pan next to an imperative: Pan usiądź. The imperative belongs to ty and wy. People you address formally are asked with proszę and the infinitive, or with niech and the third person.

Asking politely: proszę usiąść, niech pan wejdzie
