Words of the written style
The stiff, compact words of notices, forms and reports.
Notices, forms, reports and the news use a register that sounds stiff when spoken aloud. Many of its words are longer or older forms of everyday ones: 대하여 for 대해, 금일 for 오늘, 및 for 하고. Documents also point at themselves: 상기 is what stands above, 하기 what follows, and 본 the very thing in hand. You will rarely need to say these words, but you will read them every day.
