Loanwords of daily life
English-looking words that mean something else in Korea: a laptop, a studio flat, a desk lamp.
Everyday Korean is full of words built from English, and many of them have taken a road of their own: a 노트북 is a laptop, a 원룸 a studio flat, and your 컨디션 is how you feel today. They are written and said as Korean words, so 와이파이 has four syllables. Read the note on each word: where the meaning has moved, the English sense is the one a Korean listener will not expect.
