Everyday verbs with 하다

Exercising, phoning, chatting, inviting, eating out — the verbs made from a noun and “to do”.

A large share of Korean verbs are a noun followed by 하다, “to do”: 운동 is exercise, 운동하다 is to exercise. Learn the forms of 하다 once — 해요, 했어요, 할 거예요 — and every verb here follows them. The noun can also stand on its own with an object particle, 운동을 해요, and a negative goes between the two: 운동 안 해요.
