Going in and out, up and down, back and past, and taking things along.
Korean builds most motion verbs from two pieces: how or where you move, then 가다 (away from here) or 오다 (towards here) — 들어가다 and 들어오다, 올라가다 and 올라오다. The same pattern tells you what is moving with you: a thing you carry is 가져가다, a person you take along is 데려가다. Travel to Seoul counts as going up, 올라가다, wherever you start from.
