Verb phrases learnt as a unit
A noun and a verb that only mean what they mean together.
Korean builds many everyday meanings from a noun and a verb that only make sense together. The noun is usually the subject, so it takes 이/가 where English would expect an object: 시간이 나다, “time comes out”, to have time; 화가 나다, “anger comes out”, to get angry. Learn each one whole, particle included. A few are pictures: someone whose “eyes are high” (눈이 높다) is hard to please.
