Feelings English needs a sentence for and Korean has one word for.
Korean has adjectives for feelings English needs a sentence for. 아깝다 is the pang of seeing something go to waste; 억울하다 the feeling of being treated unfairly with no way to put it right; 섭섭하다 and 서운하다 the small hurt when someone close lets you down. Most describe the speaker’s own feeling. To say it of someone else, Korean adds -아/어하다: 동생이 부끄러워해요, “my brother is shy”.
