Nella posta c’era una busta senza francobollo. Dentro, un foglio con poche righe: „Buongiorno, sono il vicino del secondo piano. Le dispiace se lascio la bicicletta sotto la scala per due settimane? Grazie. Paolo."

Giulia ha letto il foglio due volte. La scala è stretta e la bicicletta è grande, ma il vicino è gentile e non ha mai fatto rumore. Ha deciso di rispondere di sì.

È salita al secondo piano e ha suonato. Paolo ha aperto con un asciugamano in mano. Ha riso e ha detto: scusi, stavo pulendo il bagno. Poi hanno parlato dieci minuti alla porta.

Lui lavora in una ditta piccola, dall’altra parte della città. La macchina è dal meccanico e con la bicicletta arriva in venti minuti. Giulia ha detto: volentieri, la lasci pure sotto la scala.

La sera Giulia ha trovato un altro foglio. Questa volta c’erano due righe soltanto: „Grazie di cuore. Se ha bisogno di qualcosa, io sono al secondo piano.“ Sotto, un numero di telefono.
