Il treno delle sette

A journey, a missed connection and a conversation on the platform.

The first text in the past tense. Look at which verbs take sono and which take ho: andare, arrivare, salire and scendere take essere, and the participle then agrees with the person speaking.

Fuori pioveva. Ho guardato i campi, i paesi piccoli, un fiume lungo. Poi ho dormito mezz’ora.
