El corrector is the concealer, the little stick that covers a shadow under the eye, and the word simply means « the one that corrects ». Spanish uses it wherever something is put right: el corrector de estilo is the copy-editor at a publishing house, el corrector ortográfico is the spellchecker in a word processor, and el corrector in a pencil case is the bottle of white fluid. English needs concealer, copy-editor, spellchecker and correction fluid, four unrelated words for one job.
