Verbs for reasoning and change

The Sino-Korean verbs of reports, meetings and careful explanations.

Almost every verb here is a two-syllable Sino-Korean noun with 하다 or 되다 after it, and the noun can stand on its own: 증가is “an increase”증가하다“to increase” They are the verbs of news, reports and meetings; in conversation many have a plainer native twin, so 증가하다 becomes 늘다 and 감소하다 becomes 줄다. Where English uses one verb for a change and for causing it, Korean often splits the pair: 향상되다is what improves향상시키다what somebody improves
