Native numbers: 하나, 둘, 셋

The Korean number set for counting things and people, for age and for the hours of the clock.

These are the numbers Korean had before it borrowed the Chinese ones, and they go up to ninety-nine; above that the other set takes over. They count objects, people, animals, hours on the clock and years of age. Before a counter, five of them take a shorter form — 하나 becomes 한, 둘 두, 셋 세, 넷 네 and 스물 스무 — so it is 한 개, never 하나 개.
