Food and drink
The words for a first meal in Korea, for a café and for the convenience shop.
밥 is cooked rice, and it is also the word for a meal: 밥 먹었어요? (“have you eaten?”) is as much a greeting as a question. A Korean meal is rice, a soup or a stew, and several small dishes shared by the whole table. Many words for snacks and drinks are English in Korean sounds — 커피, 주스, 케이크 — and are easy to recognise once you say them aloud.
