The environment
Pollution, energy, recycling and a warming planet.
Many of these words come apart into pieces you already know: 재활용 is “use again”, 일회용품 “things for one use”, 친환경 “friendly to the environment”. Rubbish in Korea is sorted into several streams, so 분리수거 is a word you meet in the first week in any block of flats. Loanwords such as 에너지 and 플라스틱 are ordinary words here, not technical ones.
