Numbers and money

Counting, prices, and the words for paying and changing money.

The numbers from one to ten are all a learner needs to build every number up to ninety-nine: 十一(shíyī) is eleven, 二十(èrshí) twenty. Large numbers are counted in ten-thousands, not thousands. Two is 二(èr) when counting and 两(liǎng) before a measure word. The currency is the 人民币(rénmínbì); prices are written in 元(yuán) and spoken in 块(kuài).
