What is said on meeting and parting, on thanking and apologising, and how people are addressed.
These phrases are learned whole, not built word by word, and many of them come with a fixed reply: 谢谢 is met with 不客气, 对不起 with 没关系. People are addressed by surname and title, and the title comes after the name: 王先生, 李老师. To an older person or a customer, 您 replaces 你.
