Abstract nouns for argument

The nouns an essay or a discussion is built on: causes, principles, limits, aims and points of view.

These are the nouns that carry an argument, and most of them live in fixed frames worth learning whole: 在(zài)…的(de)前提(qiántí)下(xià), on condition that; 在(zài)很(hěn)大(dà)程度(chéngdù)上(shang), to a large extent; 从(cóng)…角度(jiǎodù)看(kàn), seen from the angle of; 本质(běnzhì)上(shang), essentially. English often uses a verb or an adverb where Chinese prefers one of these nouns, so a sentence that sounds heavy when translated word for word is quite normal in written Chinese.
