Chinese placement test
First a question about you, then grammar and vocabulary in turn. Every answer shifts the estimate, and the next question comes from wherever it stands. At the end you get your level — and where to carry on.
How this test estimates
Adaptive, not fixed. The test starts from your own estimate and then asks wherever its estimate stands — a touch easier than the middle, so you can solve most of the questions. It stops as soon as one level is at least three quarters likely, and never before ten questions.
A result with its uncertainty. If the neighbouring level is close, it is named too, and grammar and vocabulary are shown separately. The test does not count towards your reviews: only the level is saved, and the learning path starts there.
