School and learning

There are two verbs for « to learn » and they are not the same thing: estudiar is sitting with a subject, aprender is being able to do it at the end. Two other verbs here look like English words and mean something else. Aprobar is to pass an exam, not to approve; suspender is to fail it, not to suspend anybody. Both are said from the exam's side rather than the candidate's — me han suspendido is « they failed me » — and both turn up in the first week of any course.
