A2 · The future
Futuro simple
Endings on the whole infinitive — and twelve verbs shorten it.
The endings -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án go on the *complete infinitive*, with nothing cut off: hablar → hablaré, comer → comeré, vivir → viviré. All three verb groups take the same endings — the only tense where that is true.
Twelve common verbs shorten the stem: tendré, pondré, vendré, saldré, podré, sabré, haré, diré, querré, habrá, cabré, valdré. The endings stay the same, and knowing those twelve is knowing the whole futuro.
Besides the future this form carries a *guess about the present*. ¿Qué hora es? — Serán las ocho. That means «it must be eight». In conversation this meaning comes up more often than the temporal one, and English has nothing like it.

Die typisch deutsche Falle
Aufgepasst
Out of habit the infinitive gets cut, as it is in every other tense: hablé instead of hablaré. But that is the indefinido — «I spoke» instead of «I will speak». In the futuro the infinitive stays whole; that is its peculiarity.
The ending goes on the whole infinitive — only twelve verbs shorten it.
