A common trap

Wrong Dovete portare il casco.

Right L'uso del casco è obbligatorio.

A rule written with dovete speaks to somebody, and then it sounds like a manager rather than a notice. An English sign gets away with the bare imperative because the form has no subject in it either; the Italian imperative does, and picking one means picking a person to address. A sign addresses nobody: it says what holds, and leaves open for whom.
