A common trap

Wrong Penso che lui parla bene l'italiano.

Right Penso che lui parli bene l'italiano.

The vowels are swapped, and that is the whole trap: what is parla in the present is parli here, and prende becomes prenda. Taking one for the other does not produce a wrong form but an existing form in the wrong mood, which is almost invisible on rereading — and English offers no help at all, since its own verb would not have changed.
