The list for a report rather than a garden. Near the end of it is nocif, harmful, and English owns its root but never in the plain form. The Latin verb is nocere, to harm, and English has it negated — « innocent » is in-nocens, « not harming », and « innocuous » is in-nocuus, the same thing. It has it prefixed: « noxious », and « obnoxious », which once meant exposed to harm and now means the person causing it. It has it worn down beyond recognition in « nuisance », via old French nuisance from nuire. What it does not have is a bare adjective meaning harmful and built on that root. So ce produit est nocif pour les abeilles says, quite literally, that the product is *not innocent* towards the bees — and the English word that keeps the root is the one that means the opposite.
