The list for a night away. Three of its entries are built the same way, and the pattern is what makes them read as a listing rather than as a sentence: after avec and sans, French drops the article. une chambre avec vue, avec salle de bains privative, avec balcon, sans ascenseur, petit-déjeuner compris — bare nouns throughout. English cannot do it: « a room with a view », « with a balcony », « with an en-suite bathroom », and dropping the article sounds like a telegram. The French is not shorthand either; it is what the language does when the noun names a category rather than a particular thing, which is also why je suis venu sans parapluie and elle travaille sans ordinateur take no article. So the formula to learn is not one phrase but the position: after those two prepositions, leave the article out.
