A2 · Requests and commands
The eight irregular command forms
Eight short words you hear on the first day.
For tú eight verbs build the affirmative imperative irregularly, and all eight are one syllable: di (decir), haz (hacer), ve (ir), pon (poner), sal (salir), sé (ser), ten (tener), ven (venir).
They apply only to the affirmative tú form. Negated and with usted the form is built quite regularly from the subjunctive: no digas, diga usted.
Two of them look like other words: ve is also the form of ver («look»), and sé is also «I know». Context settles it every time.

Aufgepasst
The regular form gets built because it can be derived: Hace lo que quieras or Vene aquí. These eight verbs have a one-syllable form of their own: haz, ven. They come up so often that they settle in quickly.
