Everyday two-kanji compounds

Common nouns of action that turn into verbs with suru, from preparing to confirming.

Most of these words name an action, and most of them become a verb simply by adding する: 準備(じゅんび) is "preparation", 準備(じゅんび)する is "to prepare" — two words for the price of one. In conversation the noun is often kept apart from する with を, and what it is about is attached with の: 旅行(りょこう)の準備(じゅんび)をする, "to get ready for a trip". Several have a plainer native verb beside them, and the notes say which.
