أخطاء شائعة عند المتحدثين بالعربية
خطأ He said me that he was tired.
صواب He told me that he was tired.
«قال لي» تحمل «لي» في العربية. في الإنجليزية say لا يأخذ الشخص مباشرة: تقول said to me أو told me.
خطأ Say to me the truth.
صواب Tell me the truth.
«قل لي الحقيقة» تقابلها Tell me the truth. الفعل tell يأخذ الشخص ثم ما يُقال.
تراكيب شائعة
- say goodbye — يودّع
- say sorry — يعتذر
- say no more — لا حاجة إلى مزيد
- that is to say — أي، بمعنى آخر
أفعال يسهل الخلط بينها
- tell say بعده الكلام، وtell بعده الشخص: he said no لكن he told me.
