العربية تقول «أشتاق إلى عائلتي» بحرف «إلى»، فينقله الناطق. لكن miss متعدٍّ مباشر: miss you أي «أشتاق إليك».
خطأ I lost the train, so I arrived late.
صواب I missed the train, so I arrived late.
العربية تقول «فاتني القطار»، والقطار فيها هو الفاعل. أما الناطق فيترجم بـ lose. القطار الذي لم تلحقه missed، والذي ضاع منك هو lost.
