أخطاء شائعة عند المتحدثين بالعربية
خطأ I closed the door with the key.
صواب I locked the door.
العربية تقول «أغلقتُ الباب بالمفتاح»، ففعل واحد يؤدي المعنيين. أما الإنجليزية فتفرّق بين close أي أن يصير الباب مغلقا، وlock أي أن يُقفَل بمفتاح.
خطأ The shops are closing now, so they are closed at six.
صواب The shops close at six, so they are closed now.
في العربية «تُغلق المحلات» فعل وصفة معا. أما الإنجليزية فتفرّق بين close الفعل، وclosed الصفة التي تصف الحال: close at six وbe closed now.
